Wegovy Pills UK: Price, Doses and How They Compare With the Injection

Wegovy has been associated with a weekly injection for years. Now there’s another option: Wegovy pills.

The oral version of Wegovy was approved in the UK by the MHRA in June 2026 for weight loss and weight management in eligible adults. It contains semaglutide — the same active ingredient used in Wegovy injections — but instead of a weekly injection, the pill is taken once a day.

The approved Wegovy pill doses are:

1.5mg → 4mg → 9mg → 25mg

Treatment normally starts at 1.5mg once daily, with the dose increasing gradually and generally spending at least one month at each dose level. The appropriate dose and whether the medicine is suitable for you are decisions for your prescriber.

And before anyone spots the numbers and thinks:

“Hang on… 25mg?! The injection only goes up to a few milligrams!”

Don’t panic.

Pill and injection strengths cannot simply be compared milligram for milligram because the medicine is absorbed differently when swallowed.

The biggest difference is fairly obvious.

One involves a weekly injection.

The other involves remembering a pill every day.

Both contain semaglutide, but the dosing schedules and the way the medicine is absorbed are different.

Patients being treated privately with the 2.4mg weekly semaglutide injection may, where clinically appropriate, be transitioned directly to the 25mg daily pill. This is something that should be discussed with the prescribing clinician rather than attempted independently.

This is where things get interesting.

There isn’t one universal Wegovy-pill price.

Different UK pharmacies can charge very different amounts depending on:

• the dose
• whether the price is an introductory offer
• the normal repeat-order price
• delivery charges
• discount codes
• subscription requirements

So that enormous “FROM £XX!” banner might look lovely…

…until you discover that it’s the first-month price, requires a discount code, doesn’t include delivery, or disappears the following month.

This is probably one of the most important things to check.

A pharmacy might have an excellent introductory offer for new customers but a completely different standard price afterwards.

If you’re comparing providers, look beyond the first month and check:

What will I actually pay on my next order?

A £20 saving today isn’t necessarily a saving if the ongoing price is £30 more every month afterwards.

Delivery charges can make surprisingly big differences when pharmacy prices are close.

For example:

Pharmacy A has the lower headline price.

Pharmacy B actually costs less.

Tiny detail. Rather important when it’s your bank account.

Wegovy is a prescription-only medicine and needs an appropriate clinical assessment.

The MHRA approval covers adults meeting specific weight-related eligibility criteria, including adults with obesity, or adults who are overweight and have at least one weight-related health condition.

A regulated prescriber should determine whether the treatment is suitable for the individual.

There isn’t one answer for everybody.

Price matters, but it’s worth comparing:

• Medication price
• Delivery
• Introductory offers
• Ongoing price
• Provider requirements
• Availability
